4 – BEACHES
Costa Blanca has an impressive 200 kilometres of coastline with dozens of award-winning Blue Flag beaches. Indeed, Orihuela Costa is consistently awarded the coveted recognition for all 11 of its beaches every year.
There is no end to the variety of beaches on the Costa, with bathers being able to choose the hustle and bustle of Torrevieja, the solitude of El Pinet, the splendour of Guardamar or the quiet coves of Orihuela Costa.
Many beaches have year-round sports facilities with free activities included, even out-of-season.
Chiringuitos (beach bars) open on most beaches in the summer, offering cold drinks and small meals or tapas for beachgoers.

Transportation:
The area of Costa Blanca has good infrastructure with regular buses between the larger towns, and subsidised fares make journeys incredibly good value.
A fast train from Orihuela can take you to Madrid in less than 3 hours.
Healthcare:
The health system in Spain is one of the best in Europe. There is always a hospital within easy reach. EU citizens will be pleasantly surprised that their universal health insurance is also valid here in Spain. It is possible to apply for local health insurance if you are staying here for a few months or private cover for permanent residents.
Schools:
Public schools in Spain are very good and they are free to attend to all children including expats. An abundance of private international schools cater for students of all languages.
